This is absurd. My jaw dropped when I saw this figure. I knew this era of 5 series was heavy, but damn. I never had the interest to go look it up, guessing it was something like 4600-4800 lbs. But this is ridiculous. BMW, you suck this time around.

The F10 BMW 550i (RWD) !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

EDIT: I'm an idiot. It's actually ~3700 lbs.... misread the specs of BMW site. Make fun of me, please.

o_OIs that a typo? I can't imagine the 5-series weighting more than 4000. I thought I remembered Car and Driver testing a 5-series that weighed in at 3800. But 5400? That's more than a Bentley Continental GT.

No, that's the GVW , which = Vehicle curb weight + stuff inside/on top of it. That is, that's as heavy as this vehicle can be before operation on the roads becomes unsafe, according to the manufacturer.

The Actual weight of the vehicle minus stuff and people is 3800lb . Hey, here's something mind blowing; depending on configuration, a large RWD IRS sedan from BMW can weigh just about as much as a Camaro does.

if you need a frame of reference for that number, I present a 4800 lb iron block truck (my current DD)

and

Kinja'd!!!

a 5600 lb iron block 454 3/4 ton suburban. The Suburban had more torque (supercharged) than the M5 does. (~550 ft-lbs vs 502) but much less HP (~390 vs 560)

It's GVW, not Curb.

Yeah, I caught that in your other post, I thought that sounded off. Couldn't picture anything weighing more than these two.

That's 'only' about 1700-1800lbs (guesstimating for the big engined E34) more than the equivalent E34, and it's 8 inches longer, 4 inches wider, and has modern equipment.

The F10 is also almost exactly the same size as the E32 7 series, and weighs about 1000lbs more.
